Cataract surgery is the most common operation performed in the UK and has a high success rate in improving your eyesight. Grittiness, watering, blurred vision, double vision, red or bloodshot eye can be some of the side effects and should usually improve within a few days, but it can take 4 to 6 weeks to recover fully.

If you've had your cataract surgery done in Plymouth, at Derriford Hospital or at the Peninsula, the hospital will inform you after your operation of the post-operative care required. They will ask you to contact us to arrange a follow up appointment, due four to six weeks after your operation. This allows you to be seen quicker, avoiding hospital waiting lists.
