Who am I:
I grew up in Kent, before moving to Sheffield to study my first degree in Biomedical Science, but after graduation I quickly discovered that the world of medical research was not for me. After a bit of soul searching, I started a second degree in Optometry in Cardiff, and the rest is history. My partner’s job brought us to Plymouth and we have fallen in love with the area.
Why the world of optics:
I remember an old boss saying to me once that no-one really chooses optics, we all just stumble in, and I think he was right - but we stay because we love it. I chose Optometry for my career change because it combines my loves of helping and meeting new people, and the sciences. It was second time lucky for me - I love my job.
What I like best about Iconic:
Being an independent practice we are able to give our patients the time they need; nothing is rushed and nothing is too much trouble. I appreciate having the time to really investigate and solve any problems my patients have and feel like I have done a good job. The team around me is great and really gives the practice a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
What catches my eye:
Outside of work I love exploring Devon and Cornwall, be it coastal walks, hiking in dartmoor, paddleboarding or a weekend away in a new town. I am still new in this part of the world and there is so much beauty to discover.
